Doug,
28 years of age, resides in
Shannonville, Ontario with his wife Amanda and their two daughters Kaitlyn
(6) and Ashley (5).
Doug is no stranger to racing. O’Blenis Racing was built from the ground up as being family oriented with our Motto being – We’re here to Race and Have Fun! When we are no longer having Fun then it’s time to Quit! Until then it is long hours spent in the shop, a lot of hard work with total family support and full dedication to the program.
The family has attended every Saturday night at race tracks for
26 years.
Doug is in his 12th year of racing. He started in the Street Stock/Pro Stock Division at Brighton
Speedway and raced in the class for 4 years until moving up to the Canadian Modified Division
and raced in this class for 5 years. Doug was 2007 Canadian Modified Champion for the season.
September 2008 a Sportsman Modified was purchased. Doug made his
first attempt at wheeling the sportsman at BSP during Applefest Weekend.
He then knew this was the direction his racing was headed! His second
run was a few weeks later at the BOS starting in a field of 26 and finishing
in the top 10 with a huge smile and the proudest Dad of all time when he
returned to the pits! The family knew it was safe to say that “Sportsman Modified
is our new class for 2009!”
2009 was a learning year for the team and we were able to finish 15th
place in Sportsman points at Brockville. We learned a great deal about
set-ups and track conditions as the year went along. Our confidence grew
each and every week that we went back to the track.
Doug’s primary ride for 2011 is a 2004 Bicknell Chassis with a 2004 Bicknell
Chassis as a back-up. To say Doug is busy is an understatement. He owns and
operates O’Blenis Racing Products which is a complete Race Shop specializing in chassis, body and bumper fabrication. Doug being an authorized Bicknell Racing Products Distributor he is capable
of meeting any Racer’s needs.
